Mastering Black Jack Strategy

The game of Blackjack is without doubt the first choice of strategy by most Professional Online and Offline Casino Gamblers. This is because, unlike other games, the correct use of skill will give you a free advantage over the dealer.

Black Jack Strategy and the Casino's Advantage

In Blackjack, the dealer must hit on 16 or less and stand on 17 or more. But, if you use that same strategy, you actually give the house a 5.7% edge. This means that for every $100 wagered, you lose $5.70.

Turning the Casino's advantage into your own

The Casino's advantage (also known as the house advantage) is the % given to the Casino.
Statistically speaking, two hands out of every five blackjack hands dealt will not be in your favour. This is because the first two cards you're dealt will:

a)	Add to 17-21	35% of the time	Excellent / Stand
b)	Add to 12-16	39% of the time	Not Good / Stand or Hit
c)	Total less than 11	26% of the time	Hit

Now, you can see that 39% of the hands require you to use your skill and strategy to gain your advantage.

Your opening hand can be seen down the left hand side whilst the Dealers Up Card is across the top. The optimum decisions are given in the table as:

H=Hit

SU=Surrender

P=Split

D=Double Down

If two options are available, go with the first if the house allows it, otherwise choose the second. Using the chart will take care of your opening hand.
